Born in 20th Feb 1988, Robyn Rihanna Fenty was destined to be among the world most successful recording artists. Her career began back in 2003 when she decided to come to the United States to pursue a recording Career. It’s during this time that the young and beautiful diva met Evan Rogers who guided her to her first demo tapes. This later earned her a spotlight and subsequently a very lucrative contract with Def Jam after she auditioned for Jay – Z. She has from then been a fan favorite all over the world and an inspiration to young artist who idolize her. So before we all get exited on all her accomplishments, lets take a journey down Rihanna’s life.
Robyn Rihanna Fenty is the daughter of Ronald Fenty and Monica Braithwaite. She has two brothers Rajad and Rorrey Fenty, and two half-brothers and half-sisters from her fathers side, each of them is born from different women in his previous relationships. Rihanna started singing at the age of seven after she grew up listening to several genres of music especially reggae with her greatest influence coming from Bob Marley and Madonna. She later formed a musical trio with two of her classmates while she was at Comber mere High School.
Here career in music began in 2003 through her association with Evans Rogers. Rogers was very impressed with the young talent after she performed for him renditions of ‘Hero’ and ‘Emotions’. He later took her in to record some demo tapes which were sent out to recording labels. She received her break through in 2005 when the CEO and president of Def Jam Records requested for her presence so that she could audition for him and other industry executive. After a stunning performance, she signed a six-album recording deal. This prompted her to relocate from Barbados to New York where she lived with Rogers.
Rihanna has been very exceptional since her debut and has established herself as an artist who reinvents her image and style in with every album. She is a very sassy and interesting fashion icon whose wardrobe is one of the most influential and talked about in pop right now.
2005 – 2006 (Music of the sun & A girl like me):
she spent 3 months recording this album immediately after her signing. This album featured productions from Carl Sturken, Evan Rogers and Poke & Tone. Her debut album Music of the sun went on to sell over two million copies. Her second album, A girl like me, was released eight months after her debut album.
2007 – 2009 (Good girl gone bad):
this album embraced a new musical direction due to its up-tempo dance tracks. It received several positive reviews and went to sell over 6.6 million singles. The album also saw her nominated for a number of awards including the Grammy which she won for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the song “Umbrella” which she sung alongside Jay Z.
2010 -2011 (Rated R & Loud and talk that Talk):
this was her fourth and fifth studio album which was a huge success and saw several of its singles top charts across the globe.
2011 – Present (Unapologetic and film debut):
this album has also been successful. She has been able to also feature in a number of films such as Battleship.
